The Designer Behind Durham’s Luxury Florist
Anita didn’t learn flowers in a shop. She learned them in a conservatory.
Born in Hungary, she trained at one of Europe’s top floral design institutes — a program built on color theory, botanical architecture, and the centuries-old traditions of European floristry. Students there study for years before they’re allowed to work on a client arrangement. It’s a discipline that treats floral design as a serious art form, and that training is present in every piece that leaves our studio.
After graduating, Anita opened her own shops near Budapest. The work broke from convention — compositions that were structural, modern, and uncompromising in quality. That instinct followed her to Los Angeles, where she founded Hidden Door Floral Studio in 2018.
From Hollywood to Durham
In LA, the studio built its reputation with celebrity clients, production designers, and interior stylists who recognized the difference between a good arrangement and an exceptional one. No advertising, no wire services — the studio grew entirely through referrals from people who cared about quality.
In 2022, Anita brought Hidden Door to the Triangle. Durham’s creative energy, its respect for craft and independent makers, and its mix of academic institutions and established neighborhoods made it a natural fit for a studio that takes flowers seriously. Today we serve Durham’s most discerning clients — from homes in Hope Valley and Forest Hills to offices near the American Tobacco Campus, research labs at Duke, and celebrations at venues throughout the Bull City.
Art in Bloom at the North Carolina Museum of Art
Since arriving in the Triangle, Anita has been selected as a featured designer at the North Carolina Museum of Art’s Art in Bloom — one of North Carolina’s most prestigious events combining fine art and floral design. Working alongside Morgan Howell Moylan of West Queen Studio in Hillsborough, Anita has created installations that interpret museum artworks through flowers — work that demands both technical precision and creative courage.
What Our Durham Clients Say

“We send Hidden Door arrangements to our faculty and visiting scholars. The quality consistently impresses people who have seen the best florists in New York and London.” — Dr. James P., Duke University
